Phlebotomists are responsible for drawing blood, which is used for various medical laboratory tests and procedures, including transfusions, identifying and labeling the blood samples they collect, and entering this information into a database.
The employment of phlebotomists is projected to grow by 8 percent from 2024 to 2033, which is faster than the average growth rate for all occupations. On average, about 19,600 job openings for phlebotomists are expected each year over the next decade. Many of these openings will likely result from the need to replace workers who change careers or leave the workforce, such as those retiring.

The St. Charles Phlebotomy Training program is designed to equip students with the fundamental skills required to become phlebotomists in diverse job opportunities. This comprehensive 8-week course includes 48 hours of lectures, hands-on skills labs, and assessments. Topics covered include anatomy and physiology, blood collection theory and handling, safety, and relevant phlebotomy laws and regulations.
NOTE: ACE operates under The City of St. Charles School District, and it is mandatory for all adult students enrolling in morning classes to undergo a Missouri criminal background check. This precautionary measure ensures the safety and security of district students. The fee for the background check is payable directly to the Missouri State Highway Patrol. ACE will reimburse the student for these expenses when they present a clear report.
