An EMT cares for patients at the scene of an incident while taking patients by ambulance to a hospital. An EMT has the skills to assess a patient’s condition and manage emergencies related to respiratory, cardiac, or trauma incidents.
Overall employment of EMTs and paramedics is projected to grow 6 percent from 2024 to 2033.
Are you interested in becoming a licensed Emergency Medical Technician? The St. Charles EMT Training Program provides the basic level of training for the emergency care provider and leads to state and national licensure examinations. Students will master basic emergency care skills through classroom training, hands-on skill training, and clinical observation in a hospital emergency department and an ambulance. Upon completing this program, students can take the National Registry Exam (NREMT) for certification by the State of Missouri. WIOA Approved
PLEASE NOTE: To enroll, you MUST pass an entrance exam. Students must be 18 years or older and provide proof of a high school diploma, GED/ HISET, or a college transcript.
Additionally, you must have a current PPD test, a flu shot, and proof of the following immunizations: Varicella and Tdap. A Missouri criminal background check is required for all incoming students, and fees are paid directly to the Missouri State Highway Patrol at https://www.machs.mo.gov/MACHSFP/home.html.
Emergency Medical Technician Program-EMT is the first step for any student interested in a career in the healthcare industry. According to the U.S. Department of Labor Bureau of Labor Statistics, the employment of EMTs and paramedics is projected to grow 11 percent from 2022 to 2030, faster than the average for all occupations, due to increased health emergencies as the population of middle-aged and elderly people grows. Those with EMT certification can work as paramedics, firefighters, emergency department technicians, home health care providers, dispatching communications specialists, or health screeners.

Brian Beasley has been a firefighter/paramedic for 28 years at Central County Fire and Rescue. His certifications and service awards include Missouri Firefighter I & II, National Registry EMT-Paramedic, Community Paramedic, and State of Missouri Hazardous Material Technician and work with the Community Outreach program.
In 1995, Brian started teaching as an adjunct instructor for the St. Charles EMT program and currently serves as the primary instructor. What began as a part-time job quickly turned into his passion. Over the years, he has guided hundreds of students who have become healthcare workers and first responders. Brian’s greatest teaching reward is sharing his real-life experiences and knowledge with his students.
Aaron Peters has served as a firefighter/paramedic for Lincoln County, Abbott EMS, and currently for the Valley Park Fire Protection District, where he has been for four years. His certifications include Firefighter 1 and 2, AMLS, PHTLS, ACLS and PALS instructor, CPR, Healthsaver instructor, and hazmat operations. He also served in the Navy for five years. He was a member of the At-Sea Fire Party and the Engineering Training Team (ETT), where he trained approximately 100-150 sailors in casualty control situations. Aaron began teaching as an EMT instructor to help students pursue this incredible, life-changing career and give back to the EMS community.
The 24-hour Refresher course is designed to meet the Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements, National Registry standards, and the State of Missouri Bureau of EMS.

Nationally Registered EMTs (NREMT) are required to renew their certification every two years. NREMTs can recertify by either taking the cognitive examination or completing continuing education. This 40-hour refresher course provides all the continuing education needed for those currently certified by NREMT.
This course will meet all requirements for each component:
You have made three (3) unsuccessful attempts at the NREMT Written Exam.
You must provide a copy of your license and CPR/BLS certification before the first day of the course. You must attend all classes to obtain your refresher certification. WIOA Approved

Bleeding injuries can occur at any location. Rather than being a bystander, you can take action by becoming an immediate responder.
Participants will practice techniques on the floor, so comfortable clothing is recommended.
NOTE: REFUND POLICY
For courses over eight weeks, a non-refundable registration fee applies. If you elect to cancel the course, you must notify the ACE office to receive a refund of the remaining balance. If the request is received less than two full business days before the start of class, no refunds, transfers, or credits will be issued.
